DAY 1: Welcome to Madrid, Walking Tour, through Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Historic Madrid, Madrid de los Austrias, Choir Rehearsal, Traditional Spanish Welcome Dinner
Morning:
Arrive in Madrid, Spain’s vibrant capital, and settle into the hotel. This first part of the journey gives the choir time to rest, get oriented, and prepare for an exciting musical and cultural experience in Spain.
Afternoon:
Begin discovering historic Madrid with a relaxed Walking Tour through Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Historic Madrid, and Madrid de los Austrias, giving students their first introduction to the atmosphere, architecture, and cultural heritage of the Spanish capital.
Evening:
The group holds its first Choir Rehearsal in Spain, preparing its voices and repertoire for the upcoming performance. The day concludes with a Traditional Spanish Welcome Dinner and an introduction to the musical journey ahead.
DAY 2: Madrid, Auditorio Nacional de Música, Student Choir Showcase, Música Creativa, Live Music Performance
Morning:
Visit the Auditorio Nacional de Música, one of Spain’s most important concert venues. Students discover the world of professional music through orchestras and ensembles, concert production, acoustics, the life of professional musicians, and the Spanish classical music tradition. Whenever scheduling permits, we would also seek opportunities for students to meet musicians.
Afternoon:
The highlight of the day: Students take center stage in Madrid for an unforgettable Student Choir Showcase!
We will seek to arrange a small private or community choir performance in a suitable music venue, such as the auditorium at Música Creativa, subject to availability and confirmation.
The 30–45 minute showcase gives students the opportunity to perform their choral repertoire for a Spanish audience and experience what it feels like to be an American student choir on tour in Spain.
Evening:
Group dinner and optional Live Music Performance, depending on the city’s concert calendar.
Overnight: Madrid
DAY 3: Madrid, Granada, Flamenco Rhythm Workshop, Albaicín and Sacromonte
Morning:
Travel south from Madrid to Granada by private motor coach. Along the way, students begin discovering Andalusia — the region that has played such an important role in the development of flamenco — and its rich musical traditions.
Afternoon:
After arriving in Granada, students participate in a hands-on Flamenco Rhythm Workshop
discovering palmas, flamenco rhythms, percussion, guitar, basic flamenco structures, and compás.
The interactive experience allows choir students to explore the connection between rhythm, voice, clapping, and movement, even if they have never experienced flamenco before.
Evening:
Explore the historic Albaicín and Sacromonte neighborhoods before enjoying dinner together. The evening offers students an opportunity to experience Granada’s distinctive atmosphere and the cultural setting in which flamenco developed.

DAY 4: Granada, Alhambra and Generalife, Evening Flamenco Experience, Caves of Sacromonte
Morning:
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards your tour guides take you to visit the extraordinary Alhambra and Generalife. Discover the history and cultural influences that shaped Granada. Students experience one of Spain’s most remarkable cultural landmarks and gain a deeper understanding of the city’s heritage.
Afternoon:
Enjoy lunch in Granada on your own. Meander the streets and its unique cultural heritage, with time to appreciate the city’s architecture, traditions, and musical identity before the evening’s flamenco experience.
Evening:
Dinner will be enjoyed at a local eatery. Attend a professional Evening Flamenco Experience in the unique setting; the Caves of Sacromonte — an authentic way to experience this powerful combination of music, rhythm, voice, and dance and to see the musical traditions students have been exploring come to life.
Overnight: Granada
DAY 5: Granada to Seville, Andalusia, including Seville Cathedral, Plaza de España, Santa Cruz, María Luisa Park, Flamenco Dance Class
Morning
After breakfast, travel from Granada to Seville. The journey continues through Andalusia, giving students the chance to see how the region’s landscapes and cultural traditions connect the different cities.
Afternoon
After lunch and hotel check-in, explore Seville’s most iconic landmarks, including Seville Cathedral, Plaza de España, Santa Cruz, and María Luisa Park.
Students then take part in a private, beginner-friendly Flamenco Dance Class specially adapted for teenagers, learning flamenco posture, braceo, basic zapateado, clapping, rhythm, compás, and a simple choreography. The goal is to experience music through movement and understand the close relationship between rhythm, dance, and singers.
Evening
Enjoy a traditional Andalusian dinner and relax together after a day of discovering Seville through its landmarks, music, and dance traditions.
Overnight: Seville
DAY 6: Choral Workshop, Royal Alcázar, Free Time To Explore
Morning:
After breakfast, students bring their own experience into the Choral Workshop. Instructors demonstrate how flamenco rhythm works, while students experiment with incorporating rhythm, clapping, vocal expression, and percussion concepts into their own musical vocabulary.
Afternoon:
Discover Seville, including the Royal Alcázar and historic city center. Students have time to appreciate the city’s architecture and cultural heritage while connecting what they see with the musical traditions explored during the trip.
Evening:
Enjoy an evening in Seville and experience the atmosphere of the city, with Free Time for the group to shop, explore, relax and share the day’s musical and cultural experiences.
DAY 7: Valencia, Central Market, Plaza de la Virgen, Valencia Cathedral
Morning:
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and travel from Seville to Valencia. As the group moves from Andalusia toward Spain’s Mediterranean coast, students continue their journey through the country’s diverse landscapes and cultural regions.
Afternoon:
Upon arrival, explore Valencia’s historic center and experience the city’s distinctive Mediterranean atmosphere, with possible stops at the Central Market, Plaza de la Virgen, Valencia Cathedral, and the historic streets. Students then discover the world of paella through a hands-on cooking class and learn how to prepare one of Spain’s most iconic dishes.
Evening:
Enjoy the evening in Valencia, taking in the city’s Mediterranean atmosphere and relaxing together after the journey from Seville.
Overnight: Valencia
DAY 8: Valencia, The Palau de la Música, Turia Gardens, Berklee Valencia, Farewell Dinner
Morning:
Visit one of Valencia’s leading concert venues. The Palau de la Música brings together music, architecture, and emotion, surrounded by the beautiful Turia Gardens. Students have the opportunity to experience a professional music setting and discover the beauty of performance from a choral perspective.
Afternoon:
Whenever scheduling permits, we would seek to arrange an educational visit or encounter connected with Berklee Valencia. Students can discover contemporary music, performance, songwriting, production, music technology, and international careers in music. For students considering music after high school, this could be one of the most inspiring experiences of the entire trip.
Evening:
Celebrate the final full day of the journey with a Farewell Dinner. The evening brings the group together to reflect on the music, friendships, and cultural experiences shared throughout Spain.
