Morning: After breakfast we will go to the Accademia Gallery, best known as the home of Michelangelo’s “David”. Wander the halls and view the works of other Florentine and Italian artists.
Afternoon: We will take a break for lunch, and then your group will go to the historic center of the city to see the Piazza Del Duomo, the most visited site in Florence. Your guide will provide you with the history of the adjacent buildings in the piazza such as: The Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral (the largest building in medieval Europe), Giotto’s Bell Tower, and The Baptistry of St. John. After lunch, your group will the visit Ponte Vecchio, or “Old Bridge”. The bridge appears in records dating back to 996, and unlike every other bridge in Florence that was destroyed during WWII, it is still standing today.
Evening: Tonight you will be free to explore Florence on your own. We recommend visiting Palazzo Vecchio, Boboli Gardens, or strolling through the many craft and food markets the city has to offer.
